How to Analyze Ad Tracker Reports in an Ad Tracker

Ad trackers are crucial in media buying and traffic arbitrage, with their reports being vital for success. These reports offer a thorough understanding of how effective advertising campaigns are, aiding professionals in making well-informed decisions and boosting profits.

Furthermore, they provide essential insights into the target audience’s behavior, which is crucial for precisely adjusting advertising campaigns and bundles. Beyond this, they help identify trends, facilitate strategic decision-making, and analyze suspicious activities. Overall, reports from advertising trackers bring clarity and guidance to an advertising strategy.

Types of Reports in an Ad tracker, and How to Use Them

There are three main types of reports:

  1. Traffic Reports

This report provides “technical” information about clicks, covering all clicks on campaigns, offers, landings, direct link clicks, and more.

  1. Conversions Reports

This report allows you to identify which visitors are performing target actions, such as making a purchase.

  1. Consolidated Reports

This report comprehensively analyzes campaigns and includes a wide range of metrics. It allows you to analyze the effectiveness of campaigns or groups and take corrective actions.

For instance, you can isolate all clicks made from Android devices and then group these by the type of browser used. This lets you identify which browser on Android devices brings the most clicks. With this insight, you can adjust your source settings based on these specific parameters, which can help optimize your budget.

Traffic Reports Explained

This report includes all clicks on advertising campaigns. Essentially, this shows a technical analysis of traffic.

You can open the report in the Reports → Clicks section.

The report provides a wealth of data, including the visitor’s IP address, referrer, search engine used, country, city, region, operating system, and many other details. With 115+ parameters available, you can customize the report to include only information relevant to your needs.

To do this, simply click on the gear icon in the report page’s top right corner. From there, you can easily select and add the specific parameters you want to include in your report.

Also, specify the time frame for which you want to generate the report.

This report allows you to see who is engaging with your campaigns. You can include UTM tags in the Sub ID section when configuring a campaign. These tags are then visible in the report, providing detailed insights. You can refer to our guide for more information about UTM tags.

For website owners, this tool offers the capability to track all visitors. By integrating the tracker’s script on your site, it becomes possible to analyze the demographics of your visitors, including their devices and the countries and cities they are from. This data is crucial for tailoring your approach. Let’s imagine that you run a backpack store and notice traffic from countries you don’t ship to and predominantly mobile device users. You can set filters in the source to target only mobile traffic from countries you serve, optimizing your marketing efforts.

Additionally, the report’s filtering options allow you to organize data by any parameter or combination from the available list. This feature enhances the utility of all report types.

Conversions Reports Explained

You’re already familiar with how to track clicks and page visits. The next step is to determine which users are completing desired actions. You can find this data in the Conversions section, accessible through the Reports menu.

Here, you can assess the effectiveness of your bundles. The Settings allow you to choose from approximately 100 parameters to suit your specific needs.

For example, if the Clicks report shows significant activity for the SubID 1 parameter, the Conversions report can determine how many conversions are attributed to this parameter.

With the Filters feature, you can drill down into the data for the SubID 1 parameter for a particular offer or even analyze the overall number of conversions linked to SubID 1 for that offer. Additionally, you can identify the campaign and source from which the conversion was generated and access detailed information about each click.

This tool is helpful for team leaders to analyze which offers and affiliate networks are most effective at drawing in traffic. This information is crucial for negotiating better terms with affiliate networks.

Consolidated Reports Explained

Navigate to the Campaigns section to access a Consolidated report for a specific campaign. You can review data across 60+ parameters and metrics on the main page.

To modify the set of metrics and parameters, simply click on the gear icon in the top right corner. Explanations for the metrics and formulas are available in the Glossary section of the documentation.

Similar data can also be viewed for landings, offers, affiliate networks, and sources.

When a single campaign has multiple landings, the Landing Pages report will display costs for each landing individually. Meanwhile, the Campaign report will show the total costs for all the landings and other campaign components.

To access a consolidated report for a specific campaign, landing, offer, or other elements, click on the Reports icon located to the right of its designation.

Here, you can quickly generate the report you need using the menu with filters and grouping options.

Depending on your specific requirements, reports can be tailored in various ways, such as by organizing them based on offers, IP addresses, or devices.

One less obvious but valuable use of reports is to enhance the security of your campaign.

For instance, if you observe that some clicks lack referral information in a campaign, it could indicate potentially fraudulent activity. If you notice numerous clicks from the same IP address without resulting conversions and a referral, you can take action to block that IP address using the Fail2ban feature or at the source level.

Additionally, you can manually create reports by going to Reports → Create Report, where you can customize all parameters and filters according to your specific preferences.

To visualize data related to nine key parameters, utilize the Trends tab. This feature allows you to swiftly evaluate the success of all your campaigns over a specified period of time.
